PRBuzz.com/ January 17, 2011 -- It's official - according to figures released today, the Ford Fiesta is the UK's most popular car after topping the charts for most of last year. The best-selling model reigned for ten out of twelve months in 2010 and never fell out of the top three sellers.
For the second year running, the Ford Fiesta has been the best-selling car in the UK and was the only vehicle to break the 100,000 sales mark in the year, cementing Ford's position as the most popular brand for loyal consumers.
This comes as no surprise to Russell Bowker, owner of Yorkshire based
vehicle leasing and
van leasing company
Kudos Vehicle Management, "This supermini has been a firm favourite amongst our clients for some time. Available in three and five door variations it offers something for everyone and despite the tough economic conditions the Fiesta continues to be a top seller."
The final statistics were published by the Society for Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), and listed the British-built Vauxhall Astra a strong contender at second place. A recent upgrade to the interior and Vauxhall's low-CO2 ecoFLEX engines ensured it earned its position and outsold its rival the Ford Focus by 3,000 cars in 2010.
The fourth best-selling car of the year is another Vauxhall, the Corsa supermini, which sold 77,398 units in 2010, just 400 less than the Focus.
Other cars to make the top ten included the Vauxhall Golf and Polo, the Peugeot 207 supermini, BMW 3 Series, Mini and the Nissan Qashqai.
